Coming Spring 2020 Time TBD
This workshop will expose the student to a new technique and learn the basics of abstraction. Learn about this ancient medium called cold wax and discover its versatility. This workshop is offering you two courses in one, learning a new medium and painting abstract to add to your artistic repertoire.
Note: Cold wax is not the same as encaustics, where heat is necessary to melt the wax creating harmful fumes. This class is appropriate for beginner through advanced levels.
During the workshop you will use instinct, passion and intuition as your guide. Free yourself by working on several paintings at a time to keep yourself moving. Learn how to use this medium along with good composition, strong values and vivid color. Paint over, layer and scrape, to create visual texture, depth, energy and emotion. By manipulating the cold wax, it will allow you and your art to reveal itself.
Students will create their own small cold wax and oil pieces on Arches Oil paper. Bring your own supplies and the usual painting gear, an open mind, and lots of enthusiasm. There will be plenty of emphasis on creative thinking. Eileen will provide some handouts and do demos. Please bring your lunch.
